Update on Rachel’s health:

Photo of Rachel back in January (2014) during physical therapy session…after she did this exercise she almost passed out and got sick to her stomach. We had to end the session for that day.

This year in January 2014, Rachel began going to physical therapy 3 times a week for 6 weeks, but she was getting worse not better so they kicked her out! Can’t say she didn’t give it her all. This caused us to pursue more testing to see what is wrong with her.

Over the last 8 months, she has been tested for a variety of things besides her brain injury: Lyme’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis (They tested her 2 times for that.), Adrenal Disfunction, heart problems, Malabsorption Syndrome, and C.I.D.P. (Chronic Inflammatory Demylenating Polyneuropathy) and they all came back negative.

Rachel did get tested and then diagnosed with P.O.T.S. (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). This means there is something wrong with Rachel’s blood and her heart doesn’t pump it normally. POTS is a condition where the heart rate goes up over 30 beats a minute higher from sitting to standing. In Rachel’s case her heart rate went up over 80-90 beats a minute higher. This explains why it is so difficult for Rachel to get out of bed. Some symptoms of POTS that Rachel has are; dizzyness, light-headedness, black outs, weakness, exhaustion, brain fog, shortness of breath, chest pain, poor sleep, visual problems, bladder problems, sweating and nausea.

This March the doctor gave her medicine that she tried for a month and it did not work. She is currently on a new medicine for the last 3 weeks and we are seeing a little bit of progress. Today the doctor increased this medicine so we are hopeful it will help.

So at this point we know she has P.O.T.S. and a brain injury, but that doesnt account for all of her nerve pain throughout her entire body. The doctor is going to go over her records to decide if he should send her to an infectious disease doctor next.

Please keep praying for a diagnosis and healing. Thank you for your continued concerns.

You can contact Rachel here or on her facebook page or mail her a note at PO Box 9010 Woodland Park, CO 80866  She is always delighted to hear from you and will respond as soon as possible.
